About Kim

Kim Heffron-Reitzel, MA, Licensed Psychologist

My name is Kim. I am a Licensed Psychologist here at the Center for Counseling and Wellness. I have a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and have been practicing psychotherapy for over 20 years. I work with individual adults and couples and specialize in working with victims and survivors of trauma, especially sexual trauma. I also work with clients who are dealing with a variety of symptoms and issues including anxiety, depression, and all of the areas listed below.

I believe almost anyone can benefit from psychotherapy, since it is really the process of getting to know ourselves. I help people develop new insight into ways that our past experiences have contributed to our current life situations. The more we increase our self-awareness, the more we can explore our options. We can connect with our inner strengths, and identify whether to either make life changes or maintain current patterns of behavior with increased awareness and strategies in place. I have a laid back, casual style, and mainly use a psychodynamic approach to therapy, while integrating other approaches as needed.
