About Helen

Helen White, MPS, Psychotherapist

In a culture plagued by loneliness, exploitation, and uncertainty, it is understandable to feel that things are not going as well as you’d like them to be. Gentle support and guidance can help you move toward a solid place even in difficult circumstances. I’m Helen, and I am a scientist-practitioner who looks beyond the traditional medical model to form a more complete picture of mental health and wellness. I work with individuals age 18 and up. I’m so happy you’re here!

My aim is to help you cultivate security, confidence, and connection in both your inner and outer world. I view establishing trust and emotional safety as prerequisites to effective therapeutic work; most clients would describe me as gentle, patient, genuine, and informal. In our work together, we will explore and clarify each layer of your internal landscape including its roots, and we will also collaborate to address here-and-now problems and gradually solidify the structures of your life. My approach is altogether science-based, mind-body based, and holistic, and is flexible to you and to what you need in any given moment. I like to use a blend of methods aimed at addressing every layer of consciousness like somatic processing and body-based mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and breathwork, as well as creative expression such as poetry, visual arts, music, and more.

I am well-informed about the therapeutic use of psychedelics, and I am enthusiastic about working with clients who would like to include psychedelic integration as part of therapy. At the moment, I am also embarking on a three-year training process to become certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I have particular interest in seeing clients with complex trauma who are looking to engage in longer-term depth work, and those who would like to explore therapy in a body-focused, emotion-forward way. It is my priority to offer a dignified, respectful, culturally responsive, and compassionate space for people from all backgrounds. If you think we could work well together, I would love to hear from you.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE

I hold a Masters in Professional Studies from the University of Minnesota in Integrated Behavioral Health. I also hold a BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. I am currently in a licensure process working toward becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and am under the clinical supervision of Kyle Murray, MSW, LICSW and Jennie Yngsdahl, MA, LP.
